THE Executive Secretary of National Commission for Colleges of Education, Professor Monday Joshua has revealed that there is no illegal College of Education operating in Nigeria. The NCCE boss stated this while fielding questions from journalists in Abuja, on activities on the Commission. He also condemned those urging Federal Government to make first degree as minimum teaching qualification in Nigeria, saying Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCCE) is currently the minimum teaching qualification in Nigeria.

Teenagers remanded over gang rape of minor

Four boys, three of them teenagers, were on Wednesday in Lagos remanded in prison custody over an alleged gang -rape of their 14-year-old neighbour. The accused persons - Femi Olatunji, 18; Rasheed Oyekanmi, 18; Habeeb Oladele, 18 and John Alade, 20; are facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, child defilement and rape before an Ikeja Magistrates' Court.

Detained Pregnant woman at Surulere Police Station collapses

A pregnant business woman, Mrs Tosin Taiwo, detained at Surulere Police Station in Lagos collapsed in the cell after four days before she was forcefully granted bail. Sources told newsmen that the woman, who was eight weeks pregnant, was arrested at Meran area and detained at Surulere over an allegation that she borrowed money. Meran is in Agbado/Oke-Odo Local Council Development Area.

35 prison inmates to write 2016 UTME - Controller

No fewer than 35 inmates from Ikoyi Prison in Lagos have registered to write the 2016 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). Mr Vincent Ubi, the Controller of Prisons, Lagos Command, Nigeria Prisons Service, disclosed this in an interview withnewsmen on Wednesday in Lagos. He said that the inmates from the Ikoyi Prisons School would sit for the Computer-Based Test mode conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
