Chibok abduction: Presidential fact finding Commission show huge progress

After eight days of deliberation, interactions and discussions with a variety of stakeholders, in agreement with the Commission, assignment, the Presidential Commission investigating the facts about the kidnapping of the Chibok college girls returned to Abuja from Maiduguri Boko Haram where the mass kidnapping by insurgents took place.

A statement issued by the spokesman of the Commission, Mr Kingsley Osadolor, it turns out that while in the Borno State capital Maiduguri, the Committee interactive session with the greatest ruler, Shehu Borno, military commanders, heads of paramilitary formations, the Commissioner of police, and the State Director of the Department of State Security Services.

According to the statement, the Commission had also intensive involvement with the principal, Vice Principals (Administration and academic) of Government High School, Chibok, where the massive kidnapping took place, as well as the matrons hostels, chef, guards on duty on the day of the incident, (April 14, 2014) while the divisional police officer in charge of the Chibok was questioned by the Commission here.

Others with whom the Commission interaction are the Borno State Commissioner for education, the Borno State Governor, Shettima Kashim; Borno elders Forum, the District head of Chibok Chibok, and representatives of the communities, including the local government President.

The statement said that the Commission found very useful the interactions, combined with the results of her earlier consultations and interactions with the Service Chiefs, Inspector General of police, heads of intelligence and security agencies, as well as some foreign experts working in the country as part of the global assistance to Nigeria in the wake of the massive kidnapping.

"In the course of her mission to Borno State, the fact finding Commission amassed a wealth of information about the kidnapping of the Chibok college girls and riot in General."But specific details just yet can't be given ", it said.

According to the statement the Committee would return to Borno briefly to interact with the families and communities in Chibok, in agreement with the Commission mandate of "mobilizing the surrounding communities and the general public on citizens ' support for a rescue strategy and operation, and a framework for action by the various stakeholders for the rescue of the missing girls articulate."

The statement expressed satisfaction with the enormous progress in the assignment that is to work out appropriate framework for the rescue agenda.

The Commission appealed to the media and the parents of the kidnapped girls to know the Committee set the desired support in the achievement of its objectives.

Japan issues Nigeria $ 85million loan to eradicate Polio

The fight against polio in the country has received additional impetus with a loan facility of $ 85million by the Japanese Government.

At a meeting in Abuja, the Japanese Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr Ryuichi Shoji, explained that the loan facility help it would need financial assistance in the gaps of zero polio cases in the country.

Speaking of the Japanese Government 14 years of partnership with the Nigerian Government in the area of polio eradication, he said that the 85 million dollar loan would have preferential interest rate of 0.2% per cent.

"The loan will be used to purchase vaccines against polio for children under the age of five," said Mr. Shoji, adding that this would also have positive effects on other countries.

"As long as a single child remained infected, children in all countries were at risk of polio," he said.

Nigeria country representative, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Mairo Mandara the polio eradication efforts, said that Nigeria have experienced considerable progress as a result of the political support that it has enjoyed.

Revealing conditions around the loan, she said: "After Nigeria has the loan agreement, the Foundation will commit to pay back the loan to Japan on behalf of Nigeria as the required margin immunization rates."

For its part, promised the Minister of health Onyebuchi Chukwu, Professor, to ensure rapid provision of vaccines to eradicate the scourge.

"The signing of the memorandum of understanding is an important milestone for the country. It helps us to ensure the availability of vaccines and timely delivery.

"It is my hope that with the loan, polio will be interrupted this year," said Mr. Chukwu.

3 Lagos schools & IMG, Oyo qualify for channels Kids Cup semifinals

Ebute Metta Primary School, Ago-Egba, Dr. Teslim Elias, and IMG, Oyo qualified for the semifinals of the 6th Edition of the national channels Kids Cup.

In what could be called a Lagos derby, got Ago-Egba African Church Primary School and Dr. Teslim Elias started the quarter-final play.

Ago-Egba Oluwaseyi Adeyemi gave his team the lead in the first half, moments later; playmaker Akram Adetoro, scored the equalizer via a set piece.

At the end of regulation time, score remained at 1-1 and it was Dr. Teslim Elias that was victorious in the penalty shoot-out. It ended 3-1 as Ago-Egba, Ayansola Salisu dare Muhammed and to convert their spot kicks Hareb A.t failed to.

The second game of the quarter-final was between Samuel Ajayi Memorial School of Ogun and Ibadan Municipal Government School. It was a thrilling contest which produced 5 goals and finished the story by Team Ogun who has played with nine players.

Captain of Team Ogun, Matthew Okewunmi scored a brace but objectives of Ayomide assured one shoulder and Adigun Oyedele IMG, Oyo booked a place in the last four.

The much talked about game between N Ebute Metta, Lagos, Delta and Primary School. Team Delta had a smooth ride in the group stage but in this encounter, Ebute Metta was willing to work and they did.

Anieke votes scored the first goal for the team of Lagos based but just before the break Daniel Ayuma brought up for Delta. But it was Ebute Metta's Agbedeyi Ahmed that stunned the boys from Delta when he scored from a set piece in the second to take his team to the semi-final.

It was breathtaking encounter when research Model Primary School, Kaduna and Lagos from Toyibat looking for the last ticket to the next round of the competition.

Yusuf Mohammed Team Kaduna the lead in the first half and just when they came back from the break, Idris Salisu doubled its lead. Toyibat not, they keep fighting until Toheeb Lady pulled one back.

In the final minutes of the game, Emmanuel Ekujimi held his team in the tournament when he scored from a set piece. That target life-saving forced the game to penalties. At the end of Toyibat won the shoot-out 4-3 to advance.

In the semifinals, Dr. Teslim Elias, Isale-Eko picks up with Ebute Metta Primary School while Ibadan Municipal Government School will trade Toyibat, Gbagada Lagos, Oyo is on.

The semifinal games will play at the Teslim Balogun Stadium on Monday and also host the last match on Wednesday which is also celebrated as the day of the children.
