3 Lagos schools & IMG, Oyo qualify for channels Kids Cup semifinals

Ebute Metta Primary School, Ago-Egba, Dr. Teslim Elias, and IMG, Oyo qualified for the semifinals of the 6th Edition of the national channels Kids Cup.


In what could be called a Lagos derby, got Ago-Egba African Church Primary School and Dr. Teslim Elias started the quarter-final play.


Ago-Egba Oluwaseyi Adeyemi gave his team the lead in the first half, moments later; playmaker Akram Adetoro, scored the equalizer via a set piece.


At the end of regulation time, score remained at 1-1 and it was Dr. Teslim Elias that was victorious in the penalty shoot-out. It ended 3-1 as Ago-Egba, Ayansola Salisu dare Muhammed and to convert their spot kicks Hareb A.t failed to.


The second game of the quarter-final was between Samuel Ajayi Memorial School of Ogun and Ibadan Municipal Government School. It was a thrilling contest which produced 5 goals and finished the story by Team Ogun who has played with nine players.


Captain of Team Ogun, Matthew Okewunmi scored a brace but objectives of Ayomide assured one shoulder and Adigun Oyedele IMG, Oyo booked a place in the last four.


The much talked about game between N Ebute Metta, Lagos, Delta and Primary School. Team Delta had a smooth ride in the group stage but in this encounter, Ebute Metta was willing to work and they did.


Anieke votes scored the first goal for the team of Lagos based but just before the break Daniel Ayuma brought up for Delta. But it was Ebute Metta's Agbedeyi Ahmed that stunned the boys from Delta when he scored from a set piece in the second to take his team to the semi-final.


It was breathtaking encounter when research Model Primary School, Kaduna and Lagos from Toyibat looking for the last ticket to the next round of the competition.


Yusuf Mohammed Team Kaduna the lead in the first half and just when they came back from the break, Idris Salisu doubled its lead. Toyibat not, they keep fighting until Toheeb Lady pulled one back.


In the final minutes of the game, Emmanuel Ekujimi held his team in the tournament when he scored from a set piece. That target life-saving forced the game to penalties. At the end of Toyibat won the shoot-out 4-3 to advance.


In the semifinals, Dr. Teslim Elias, Isale-Eko picks up with Ebute Metta Primary School while Ibadan Municipal Government School will trade Toyibat, Gbagada Lagos, Oyo is on.


The semifinal games will play at the Teslim Balogun Stadium on Monday and also host the last match on Wednesday which is also celebrated as the day of the children.
