OAU Manfred Laugh WINS regional Moot Court Competition

Abuja-the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) University, Obafemi Ile-Ife, Osun State, on Friday in Abuja won the third African regional round Manfred Laugh Moot Court Competition.

The competition was organised by the International Institute of Space Law (IISL).

Miss Lulu Makapela, Councillor, South African Council for Space Affairs, made this known on the night of the award organized by the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASDRA).

They praised the OAU and the University of Pretoria, that came second for their brilliant performance at the Federal High Court, Abuja.

Final results from five schools, three from Nigeria and two from South Africa.



They were University of Zulu country, South Africa; University of Pretoria, South Africa; Bayero University Kano, Babcock University, University of Nigeria and Obafemi Awolowo University Obafemi.

In his comments praising the supervision of the Minister of science and technology, Mrs Omobola Johnson, the participating schools for releasing their students to participate in the League.

The Minister, who was represented by its Permanent Secretary, Mrs Shuaibu Jimeta, said that Nigeria acceptance for hosting the big event her commitment to sensitization and development of space science and technology confirmed.

"" The development of space science and technology is at the core of the NASRDA.

"This really shows that we are partners in progress, work to elevate the study of space science and technology development in Africa."

For its part, said Prof. Seidu Mohammed, the NASRDA Director-General, that the competition was a wake's call for fair.

Muhammad said that the competition was an avenue to promote healthy competition argue skill improve.

"The African regional round is basically meant to selecting the best school that the continent in the world first round is scheduled to take place in Canada will represent later this year.
